Elite coaches don't train athletes at the same intensity for 15 weeks — they build, peak, taper and recover on a plan. ALPS treats your semester the same way: macrocycle, mesocycles around exams, weekly microcycles, progressive overload capped at a safe ramp, and a deload every fourth week.

Challenge Point Framework

Learning is fastest at a specific difficulty — hard enough to demand effort, not so hard that it degrades. ALPS holds your practice at roughly 70–85% retrieval success and moves the difficulty tier up or down to keep you there, easing the band on days when you're depleted.

Your sleep, stress, energy and motivation, scored against your own baseline — not an absolute. A 60 that's normal for you is treated differently from a 60 that's a crash.

This week's study load against your recent norm. A sharp spike with low readiness is what triggers a recovery day. Borrowed from sports monitoring — and treated as a signal, not a prophecy.

KFSKnowledge Fitness Score

Per-topic memory strength from your actual retrieval history. Topics you haven't practiced show as 'unmeasured' — never as a demoralizing zero.

The difficulty dial. It keeps practice at your challenge point and steps down automatically when your readiness says to consolidate rather than push.

Where we're honest with you

The acute:chronic load ratio comes from sports science, where its predictive validity has been genuinely contested. We use it as a descriptive signal — one input among several — not as a prophecy about burnout. Our parameters are a starting point being validated against real semesters, and we'll publish what we find, including the parts that don't hold up.
